Update on the UK Government’s Green Homes Grant Scheme.
Update on the UK Government’s Green Homes Grant Scheme.
“As part of the UK Government’s new Green Homes Grant Scheme, vouchers worth up to £10,000 will be given to homeowners and landlords to make their homes more energy efficient.”
The government has withdrawn this scheme as from 31st March 2021 due to complaints from installers not receiving funding and causing cash flow issues. It has not been reported why the scheme has been stopped but £300million has been allocated out of the original £ 1.5 billion.
For parishioners who still wish to improve their homes and invest in renewables it is still possible to apply for the Renewable Heat Incentive which can usually cover the capital cost of a heat pump over 7 years. https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/domestic-rhi

We will watch to see what replaces the Green Voucher Scheme which was favourable in awarding funding up front.
If parishioners are still considering PV then this is still a great thing to do using permitted development rights so you don’t need planning permission unless you are listed or in a conservation area. Prices are competitive and efficiencies increasing all the time so you need fewer panels.
